When the time came for us to buy a home in Western North Carolina we found travelling from South Florida up to the area challenging at times, especially when we thought we had found the right place online. We made several trips up with the family and sometimes just my wife and I, we tried to fit in vacation with property searching, just to realize it was too complicated, we didn’t know anyone in the area and were second guessing every decision we made. We came to the conclusion that not being here full time made it too complicated to find that perfect place at the right price with everything we wanted at the right time.

After finally deciding we needed to shelve the idea until the kids were grown up, I still searched for the right place just to watch them all go under contract, watching the good ones disappear.

We ended up selling everything, quitting our jobs, the kids were off starting their own lives and we decided that spending 3 months in an old Minnie Winnie driving around everyday until we found that perfect place, (not something everyone could do) was the right idea, so we did.

We have lived here for 11 years now and have traveled the area extensively and previous employment kept me up to speed with the building and property game.
